Vasilisa Savrasova was born in St Petersburg in 1993. She studied in “Alexandrino” children’s art school. In 2004 she published a book, “Birgamot” fairy tale (200 copies), the author’s text and pictures. From 2005 she was a student of St Petersburg State Academic Art Lyceum named after Johansson. In January 2010 she participated in “Petersburg-2009” annual exhibition (at Manezh central exhibition hall), and in June 2010 in the “21st Festival of Modern Art” show (at Pushkinskaya 10 art centre). She’s been practicing video art from 2007. Vasilisa Savrasova:
«Video is painting in development. Live pictures, transforming one into another. It’s a fusion of visual and sound images, ranging with each other in time and allowing you to feel absence of time. Sculpture, painting, graphics, layouts, reality fragments, light, water, textures, they all become one single whole, joined with video for idea realization.
In fact, my dream is to unite it all without video shooting. To come close to interaction between sound and objects in reality.
For the sound to have shape, to pour into light, into water, into dark-green grass covered with dew drops, to flow like water. Space is filled with density of radiant light, with red water, flowing like a voice, with a shower of huge silver drops. There are transparent green leaves floating in thick white and yellow light. There are faces in clots of light, a red window. It’s transparent. It’s an image of eternity, a feeling which is bigger than joy and happiness. It’s liberation. Thick light crystallizes when it touches a face, you see, you feel love in a light-blue river, which flows inside the tree, beneath its rough and dewy bark. The red rain has stopped. There is light among the trees on fire. Wonders which cannot be expressed. They are enormous, infinite, immense. And colors exist by themselves, alive and signing. And it all is one single whole, which is inseparable. And video, painting, sculpture are attempts to express it all.
I think that art is a form of prayer, and sincerity is sparkling heavenly inspiration, inherent to prayer and genuine creative work.
A need to make an exhibition appeared as a result of desire to free my works from living inside me and to let them go to start new work”. |
