In the gallery

Even in 1910-s Russia futurists joint into the group of “radiant” at the head of which was Mikhail Larionov; they believed that natural shapes were formed with the intersection of rays. When they were interested with the art of photography, they tried its capacity in technical sense and in genres and formulated the slogan “light instead of paint”.

Luminographic is a term rather new in photography.
They set a special role to the source of light which is not only “enlightens” object of photography but is an active personage forming the image.
The exhibition “Luminographic” by the Petersburg artist Vladimir Mikhailutza is an attempt to give a new meaning to the art of photography and to use new technical means in practice.
There are about forty colour photos and a short videofilm at the exhibition.
