We believe that in the situation when there are few exhibition spaces in the city and a great scale of creative ideas, aesthetic concepts and artistic practices, the main actual task is to present as many artists as possible independent on genre and technology. Exhibitions in the Borey Gallery are in the non-stop regime. It is a basic principle of the Gallery to support beginning artists and creators (the first exhibition, the first book, the first article). Absence of aesthetic snobbery and restraints in the interests of a special group of artists. Accessibility and openness.

Russian poet, writer, artist, was born in Perm in 1946. He grew up in Ukraine, in Krivoy Rog. He graduated from fine art department of historical faculty at Moscow State University. He participated in archeological expeditions, worked at school, reported for a newspaper. He is a founder and leader of a legendary literary SMOG community. Starting from 1965, his poems were published in the West. Within the Soviet rule he wasn’t published in his motherland. For more than a quarter of a century his texts were widely spread via samizdat. In the 80s he was known as translator of USSR folk poetry. He started to get published in his own country during perestroika. He’s the author of many books of poems and prose, memoirs about the bygone epoch and his contemporaries. Prize winner of Andrey Beliy award. He’s a member of PEN-club. Many of Aleynikov’s works, both paintings and graphics, belong to private collections and museums in Russia and abroad. Occasionally his personal shows are arranged. Since 1991 he’s been living in Koktebel and Moscow.

Paris - Moscow It’s no coincidence that Vladimir Aleynikov is for a long time said to be the best artist among men of letters and the best poet among artists. This thesis can easily turn into an article and even a book, lyrical and dramatic, full of expressive details through which one can feel breath of epoch. He’s one of the most significant heroes of our underground. A poet, whose poems were not published, but they found recognition in samizdat, the founder and leader of SMOG community (The Youngest Community of Geniuses – Courage, Thought, Image, Depth), a man of anything but simple fate. His books of poems started to come out only in the years of free book-printing in the beginning of Gorbachyov’s perestroika. For all his life Aleynikov has been not only writing, but also painting. He was friends with many vivid artists, poor Bohemian knights of another art, and he himself belongs to this unique, one-of-a-kind artistic constellation. Aleynikov’s works are spread all over the world. For him painting and writing are internal needs. Spontaneity and romanticism gave birth to mysterious and expressive images. They have attraction and energy. It’s an exotic and poetic world. I’d call it VA’s ISOPOETRY. |

In gallery halls | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | | | | | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | | | | | At this exhibition there’ll be presented works from “VDNH”, “Portraits”, “About Strange Life of Things”, “Flowers In the Garden” series. Exposition consists of forty landscapes, portraits and still-lives, devoted to thoughts on transience of time, its visual expression. “The works are built on a cinematographic principle and sound like music etudes. Some of them bear a feeling of anxiety and understatement, dragging loneliness, others are filled with light, coziness and warmth of bygone days. With the help of a photo camera the author records ephemeral substances, insusceptible to human feelings, transforms them into prosaic and common things, belonging to material world”, this is how Maria Koleva, an art critic, characterizes Olga Lebedeva’s work. Olga Lebedeva was born in Moscow in 1969. She graduated from the Graphic Design faculty of Stroganovskoye college. She worked in advertising agencies and publishing houses as a designer, art-director. Since 2003 she’s been actively practicing photography. She’s been participating in exhibitions from 1991. Here’s what the author herself says about her passion:
“The magic of photography opened to me in childhood, when my dad didn’t come out of the bathroom for hours and let in “visitors” very carefully. I was looking with fascination at an image appearing “from nothing”, sometimes he allowed me to help him, to turn a white sheet of paper back and forth.
When I was about 15 years old, I started to take photos of everything, I bought a Zenith photo camera with my first institute scholarship. I was crazy. However, after the institute I was entirely taken up by my profession, and only some time after, when I’d already exhausted my interest in advertising business, I again saw in photography a lively, real, amazing, true, direct contact with this world. And this is what inspires me now”.

In the small hall | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() | Vodyanitsky’s new photo projects transfers actual political problems into everyday life; it’s a case of choice or rather of problem of choice of a usual table setting item, a milk jug. And this is when the need of it in a modern kitchen is pretty doubtful. Thus it rather goes about losing rituals, which can be observed in all spheres of HOMO VCONTACTECUS’s life. The author keeps to his traditional technique, minimalist portraits of people and objects are black and white, as usual… Konstantin Vodyanitsky
Was born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1967. After graduating Taganrog Radio Technical Institute he worked in Toliatti as a systems engineer. Since 2001 he’s been living and working in St Petersburg.
