Born in 1958, in Leningrad
Professional photographer, member of the Artistic Union of Russia
Since 1982 – participation in folklore-ethnographical expeditions in the North-West of Russia and in the boarder regions of Belorussia
From 1984 till 1987 – travels in the provinces of Lithuania, Estonia and Karelia, as well as several expeditions in the mountains of the Northern Caucases
Since 1985 – photo sessions in Petersburg. Seria of photo portraits of persons from the sphere of Petersburg traditional art: Georgy Tots, Cyril Ivanov-Bunin and younger writers, artists and musicians: Oleg Grigoriev, Valery Gergiev, Oleg Karavaichuk...
At the same time he created photo seria: City of Blessed, Demiurge, Strange Play without Rules or Charming Shizo, Excursions of the High Priest, Ozerki...
In 1989 – the UNESCO vaoyage to Kazakhstan to make photos of traditional musicians.
Since 1992 – new folklore expeditions. In the sphere of interests there were: village singers and musicians, witches and wandering pilgrims, countryside priests, former prisoners of the Kolyma camps...
Beside photographs, they made audiotapes with samples of folklore and myths, archaic magical formulas, tales on the creatures from beyond coming into our world and so on; they wrote stories and memories on private and social life of the country).
Since 1993 – expeditions in the frames of the Federal program on the researches of the history of bells and bell music in the North-Western tradition.
In 1997-1998 – worked as photographer of the St. Petersburg Branch of the International PEN-club (St. Petersburg).
In 1999 – on the base of the collected material he created a photobook “From Beyond the Grave to the Grace” with texts and photos.
Since 2000 – coloured landscape photos: Garden of the Master Bo, Secluded, Rejected Flowers.
In 2002-2006 – project “Strashilkin Blues”
In 2006 – project “Ethnography”.
