Evgeny Drabkin is a scene designer and art director.

He is an art director by profession (1988-1993, LGITMIK (Leningrad State Academy of Dramatic Art named after Tcherkasov).

He had a great number of solo shows in St Petersburg, London, Torino, Poitiers, New York, Boston.

The current exhibition’s concept is Flotsam and Jetsam (or On Nature of Things).

Here we introduce in a theatrical grotesque way images of fantastic mobile-vehicles, organized in a series of sketches (the project is planned to be carried out in live 3-D form); they present mechanical essence of processes, related to human civilization in the sphere of art as well as in philosophical and common life sense, and considered “redundant”, flotsam and jetsam or exaggeratedly important in their role played in the life of mankind.
Eating and music-making, playing and writing, rubbish, flesh and labor, as well as other objects of these series have doubtful influence on everyday life. The comedy of human weaknesses finishes with the most unwanted and inappropriate thing, which is death.
