I choose the accent on the second word. “What is he?” – “Hopeless painter!”. It means he can’t do anything else and don’t want to do it. Or he is not able to can. A possibility of the accent on the first word balances an old-fashioned romanticism with irony: “Hopeless painter”. Painter’s brush sets accents constantly. It’s colour, colour, colour. It’s accent with colour. Sometimes, it’s more intense, sometimes – less; colour is building into a new statement. The history of colour guarantees the completeness of writing. Another way, under permanently changing light of life, how can you stop a brush? Painting is an archeology of colour. But if archeology as it is takes one layer after another one from the surface in the search for truth, painting goes in the opposite direction and, setting one layer on the other one, comes to the final form of canvas where not a still life or a landscape if presented but a painter himself.
