Galina Weinman-Stozharova was born in 1940 in an artistic family. Her parents were famous sculptors M.M. Kharlamova and M.A. Weinman who studied by A.T.Matveev. It is clear that the feeling of plasticity the artist received with her initial home bringing up. But her calling was painting. In 1959-1963 she studied at the State University. In 1961-1964 — in the school named after V.Serov.
The talent of painter is given to Galina Weinman-Stozharova in a full scale. It is really talent — strong and individual — and it catches spectators from the first view. An attempt to understand its nature and expressions is the next (and may be not so important) step.
Loud, even dissonance colours are typical for her; and the background is made in the rich, dense priming.
The project “Dialogue” was created by Galina Weinman-Stozharova in 2006; it includes 100 works. They were made on newspapers from different years. The idea of the project is to place naked model of various emotional states, under various light and in various time of day and seasons into the space of newspaper. Model exists in the surrounding of issues of the day and its reaction is clear in the postures and states. We see model in the dialogue with newspaper’s subheadings — sometimes in ironical, sometimes in a funny way but sometimes rather seriously.
